Dreams that seem real

Ever have one of those dreams that is so real you are convinced that the events really happened when you wake up? I've had a few of those, including one where I spent most of the next day mad at my sister for something that had only happened in a dream.

I now have the fanfic equivalent. First it was a plotbunny and now I have the whole outline of a story wandering around my head. It's so fleshed out that it feels like a story that I've already read, and I can even make a guess as to which of my favorite authors wrote it. Over the past few days I've found myself on the verge of signing on to hunt it down and read it, and then each time had to remind myself that the story doesn't exist.

At least not in this universe. But I'm now convinced that somewhere there's an AU-Earth where it's already been written and posted.
